Water Care
Baquacil

Baquacil is a chlorine alternative pool care system of sanitizing water using biguanide and hydrogen peroxide.

Chlorine

The sanitizer and algaecide used to disinfect swimming pool water which comes in many forms which all have different characteristics. Which ever form it comes in, when added to water it forms hypochlorous acid (the killing form of chlorine) which kills bacteria, algae, and all pathogenic organisms.

Ionizers

(plumbed in-line at the pool equipment)  pass an electrical current between 2 electrodes (anode & cathode) to produce metal ions, which are carried away to the pool by the flow of water. These positively charged metallic ions purify the water and kill bacteria and algae by forming an electrostatic bond with negatively charged sites on the micro organism’s cell walls distorting permeability and preventing the intake of nutrients. This coupled with protein denaturation causes cell lysis and death. (*Ions are atoms that possess an electrical charge.   The process that causes an atom to gain or lose electrons is called ionization.)

Bromine

Bromine is a chemical used to kill microorganisms and oxidize (“burn up”) wastes.Bromine, such as tablets, granules, and liquid solutions, when added to water produce hypobromous acid. (the main disinfecting and oxidizing form of bromine)

E-Z Pool

Stabilized persulphate for oxidation purposes, copper sulfate for algae prevention, water softeners for silky feeling water, water clarifier for sparkling clear water, and other ingredients to help keep the water balanced.

Salt Generators

The popularity for these simple add-on systems is growing by leaps and bounds. The system converts natural salt into free pure chlorine which gives you a sense of swimming in bottled water! The salt is re-usable, thus eliminating the need for most chemicals.

Best of all, Caryl's has been experinced with salt systems longer than anyone in the triad.

We offer three brands of salt systems and we are knowledgeable about testing salt pools.

Conversion is simple, and our knowledgeable staff can answer all your questions. Come in sometime to learn more.

Phosphates are basically the food for algae.

* Pool Water that is treated with “E.Z. Pool”,  Some Algaecides,  Pools and Spas with Ionizers installed, will contain copper sulfate (a.k.a. cupric sulfate). It is important to know if the water you’re testing is on a copper based product like these because a metal or copper residual is normal. However, these pools need to be on a chelating agent to prevent these metals from precipitating out of solution and staining pool surfaces, steps, etc. especially if being used with chlorine.

*Quaternary (“Quats”) and Polymeric (“poly-quats”) algaecides do not contain copper sulfate.
